Tricia + Zak

Longwood Garden engagement photos offer versatility and inspiration at every turn. From the moment Tricia reached out to me about photographing their engagement at Longwood Gardens I was so excited to bring their vision to life! Zak & Tricia are planning a wedding abroad in Italy next October. They wanted a similar vibe for their engagement session. We do not quite live in Miami, Texas, or California with their rich historical buildings that emulate the architecture. We do, however, have Longwood gardens. Longwood has a section called “Gardens of Italy” which was a floral spotlight at the time of their session. This is the perfect background to give you the emulation of the rich architecture of Italy, and give you that tuscan charm in the western world.

How it All Started

Tricia + Zak met while at work! Tricia just graduated from nursing school, and started working part time at a doctor’s office. Her mom actually worked at this particular doctor’s office a few days a week as well (this is important to the story). Zak was in pharmaceutical sales and came into the office. It was his last day in the territory as he was moving to Baltimore. A few months later, his replacement made their way into the office and asked the office about “a cute girl that used to work there.” Her mom and the replacement got to work, setting the two up!

After this matchmaking, Tricia + Zak began dating long distance until March of 2020. Zak eventually packed up and joined Tricia in West Chester for quarantine. Zak was working from home, and Tricia was working nighttime shifts at the hospital. After a few months of this, and cramming into a small, one bedroom apartment Tricia decided to pack her bags and move into their now townhouse in Baltimore. Tricia & Zak now live in Baltimore with their cat Maeve and their new puppy Miles (for who they just celebrated his 1 year gotcha-day)!

On the weekends, and days off, Tricia and Zak are adventurous and enjoy traveling together and exploring new places. They love to take walks/hikes with miles, as well as spending time with family and friends. Since it’s a new city for Tricia, they love to go out and try new restaurants as well!

The Proposal

Zak was being sneaky and enlisted the forces of Tricia’s mom and three sisters to plan the engagement. Zak grew up in Annapolis and he and Tricia visited often. He told Tricia they were going to dinner with his best friend and wife, and Tricia thought nothing of it. It was a blistering hot day in June, and 100 degrees outside, but Zak still adorned a button down with blazer on top. She still thought nothing of it, as Zak insisted the restaurant was “very fancy.” Tricia & Zak walked the docks in Annapolis waiting to meet their friends, when he stopped, and dropped to one knee to propose to Tricia! Then Zak lead Tricia to a restaurant where all of their family and closest friends were to help celebrate them!
